About Me

Hi, I'm Heather Macfarlane
I can help you with general anxiety, feeling overwhelmed, stress, OCD, phobias (including tokophobia, a fear of pregnancy and childbirth), bereavement, low self-esteem, depression, relationships and weight issues. I offer couples counselling as well as individual therapy. All my work is online so location is no issue.
Since 2009, I have worked as an affiliate CBT Therapist with the NHS as well as several Employee Assistance Programmes (EAPs). I am also an accredited provider for CIGNA Insurance.
I decided on this profession as having had therapy myself I know that it can make such a difference and I'm passionate about helping others fulfill their potential and not be held back in life by issues that can be dealt with.
I use an integrative approach as we are all different and respond to different ways of working. I use a mixture of acceptance & commitment therapy, mindfulness and compassion focused therapy alongside traditional CBT methods to help get you to where you want to be in life.
I am a clinical supervisor for other therapists, including trainee therapists. I have also delivered educational and self-help workshops around the topics of anxiety and weight loss.
I am an Accredited Member of COSCA, the professional body for counsellors in Scotland and am fully insured by the Psychologists Protection Society.

- COSCA Diploma in Counselling & Groupwork - A CBT Approach
